I guess I should let everyone know why I am starting this blog. Finally, keeps popping into my head. Being the procrastinator that I am, and an avid blog reader, and a Relayer, it is just time. Yes, I am a Relayer, which is a person who participates in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Relayer for short. It is an important part of my life and in keeping with my word of the year (MOTIVATE) I am hoping to get more of you Blogosphere readers involved!
I am not the usual get out there and push, pull and drag people to my event type of girl, so I will be prodding a little at a time to get you around to my way of thinking instead. Last year I was a team of one. After twelve years you would think I would have the whole thing down to a fine tuned machine, but alas, not so much. My family is wonderful, they will help if they can or it fits nicely into schedules. H (my teenager) brought out some kids 2 years ago to help in return for community service hours for all of them! That’s OK; exposure to a Relay was a bonus!
Relay for Life is a worldwide event, it’s considered THE signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. It is a community event; our relay is made up of teams of families, health care professionals, church groups, schools, local businesses, even city workers. One common goal, one common challenge…to Celebrate the cancer survivors in our community, Remember those we have lost, and FIGHT back against this horrid thing called CANCER. To see more about the event please visit www.relayforlife.org.
OK, soap box back under the table, I am hoping to tell our teams story for the 2011 Relay. From zero to hopefully reaching our goal of $2500! If you care to come along, then keep reading!
